Obituary of Tommy Whitmer
Tommy Randall Whitmer, age 74, of Scroggins, passed away in the late afternoon hours of Monday, January 15, 2018 in Sulphur Springs. Tommy was born in Poplar Bluff, Missouri, on January 31, 1943 to Norman Oscar Whitmer and Mary Matilda Hornbeck Whitmer. Tommy enlisted in the U. S. Navy shortly after high school.
Tommy was Baptist by faith. He worked as a truck driver, mechanic and was a circus worker at one point in his life.
Tommy is survived by 3 sons, Tommy Randall Whitmer, II, Alonzo Hornbeck and James Hornbeck; 1 daughter, Alice Hornbeck; 4 brothers, Lester Eugene Slaughter, Wesley Whitmer, Lesley Whitmer, all of Missouri, and Edward Whitmer of Tennessee; and 1 sister, Dianna Vass, of Missouri.
He was preceded in death by his parents and his wife Dorothy Whitmer.
Graveside services for Tommy will be held at 2 p.m. on Friday, January 26, 2018, at Stout’s Creek Cemetery in Saltillo with Bro. Kevin Hollowell officiating.
